Behaviour Information

Ravensthorpe is proud to have calm and orderly classrooms and pupils who enjoy attending school.

Our approach, stemming from our mission statement ‘Be you, Work Hard, Soar High’, reflects the school’s ambitious vision for all pupils. We recognise our culture will only be achieved with a set of shared values, consistency towards our expectations of behaviour. Our ultimate aim is that every member of our school feels safe, happy and has a strong sense of belonging and welcome. We encourage everyone to take responsibility for their behaviour and support them to recognise the impact their actions have on those around them.

SUSPENSION AND EXCLUSION ARRANGEMENTS

We work very hard to avoid suspensions (short term) and permanent exclusions. At times, however, it is necessary to address a more serious matter or persistent breaches of school rules. Suspensions and exclusions usually take effect immediately.

At times, we may use internal exclusion or short-term placements in other schools to avoid a suspension. If this is to happen, the school will make clear the arrangements.

ANTI-BULLYING

Bullying is a continuous pattern of behaviour by one person or more towards another which is designed to hurt, injure, embarrass, upset or discomfort that person.  All school staff play a major role in ensuring that we prevent bullying from occurring and dealing with it in a consistent manner if it arises.

At Ravensthorpe we take bullying seriously. We use a range of proactive strategies to prevent bullying which may include;

●   Use of curriculum opportunities, in particular PSHE

●   Use of opportunities throughout the school calendar and at certain times of the school day to raise awareness of the negative consequences of bullying e.g. Anti-Bullying Week in November of each year.

●   Whole school assemblies.
